MY WEDDING DAY
(Connie Mims) ©Pandulce Music (BMI)
Daddy puts a penny in my shoe
Mama wraps her pearls around my neck
Granny says, “With one more pin I can make that veil stay on her head”,
I’ve got a golden band to give,
I’ve got an “I Do” to say,
It’s my wedding day.
My sister looks good in pink
My brother’s pulling at his tie
My cousin wants to lick the icing off the cake and so do I
I’ve got a lacy handkerchief wrapped around a rose bouquet
It’s my wedding day
Then I close my eyes, and go back in time to that tomboy in a tree
The one with bubble gum, a bicycle and a skinned-up knee
Then the music starts, the doors swing wide and there I see
That my childhood friend is now the man who wants to marry me
Mama cries a sweet goodbye as daddy gives his girl away
It’s my wedding day
Daddy puts a penny in my shoe…..
